Lava has launched its latest affordable smartphone, the Lava Shark, in India. Lava packs a decent set of features into the Shark compared to other entry-level smartphones from Lava, such as Lava Yuva 2. The smartphone features a 6.67-inch LCD display that outputs at a resolution of 1612 x 720 pixels with 269 ppi pixel density. Compared to the Yuva 2, Lava has included a 30 Hz faster panel in the Shark that tops out at 120 Hz.
The Lava Shark is powered by a Unisoc T606 octa-core processor paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, which is further expandable up to 256 GB via microSD card. It runs Android 14 out of the box, and there’s no word on software support from the brand, indicating software updates may never arrive.
For photography, the device has a 50 MP AI rear camera and an 8 MP front camera for capturing selfies and video chats. Furthermore, Lava integrates 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac connectivity. The 5,000 mAh battery powers the smartphone and supports 18 W wired charging. According to Lava, it can deliver up to 45 hours of talk time and 550 minutes of YouTube Playback on a single charge. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, IP54 dust and splash resistance, and up to 4 GB of RAM expansion support.
Available in titanium gold and stealth black colorways, the Lava Shark is priced at INR 6,999 ($82) for the sole 4 GB + 64 GB variant. It’s now available for purchase in India via Lava retail stores. Additionally, Lava is also offering customers a 1-year warranty and free service at home as well.
