Lava has unveiled its latest budget smartphone, the Yuva 2 5G, in India. The brand’s new entry-level smartphone goes head-to-head with Motorola's recently launched Moto G35 smartphone. A Unisoc T760 chipset sits at the heart of the device, which Lava paired with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, which is further expandable up to 512 GB via microSD card. It runs Android 14 out of the box, and there’s no information on the software updates, indicating a software update may never arrive.
A new design element is a notification light, which Lava adds around the rear camera layout of the Yuva 2 5G smartphone. Furthermore, Lava equips the Yuva 2 5G with a 50 MP primary camera, a 2 MP auxiliary lens, and an 8 MP front camera for capturing selfies and video chats. It has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 18 W wired charging.
The Lava Yuva 2 5G features a 6.67-inch IPS display that outputs at 720 x 1612 pixels with 700 nits peak brightness and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The handset measures 165 x 75.8 x 8.65 mm (HWT) (6.49 x 2.98 x 0.34 inches) and weighs 190 grams (0.41 lbs). In comparison, the Moto G35 is 5 grams lighter than the Yuva 2 5G. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that also doubles as a power button, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual stereo speakers, up to 4 GB of RAM expansion support, and Bluetooth 5.2. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a water and dust resistance rating.
Available in Marble White and Marble Black, the Lava Yuva 2 5G is orderable in India for INR 9,499 (roughly $111) for the 4 GB + 128 GB model. The Yuva 2 5G is now available from Lava Retail stores across India. Head over to the official product page for more information.
