Although a Star Wars-themed special edition was apparently on its way, OnePlus only released a Lava Red Limited Edition of the 5T flagship. Sadly, it is only available in China for now.
Codrut Nistor,

Although the OnePlus 5T arrived as a minor update to the OnePlus 5, this new flagship managed to smash the launch day sales record in the OnePlus smartphone family in just six hours. Now, a brand-new limited edition of this smartphone comes to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the OnePlus brand. Sadly, it is not quite the limited edition phone that some fans of the Star Wars franchise were waiting for.

Insiders apparently familiar with OnePlus recently revealed that a Star Wars-themed limited edition OnePlus 5T was on its way. Since it has not arrived yet, we can only assume that it is still hanging around the company's launch pad and might hit the market some day after all. However, most of those waiting to get their hands on a special OnePlus smartphone should be happy with the OnePlus 5T Lava Red Limited Edition.

As it usually happens with such special handsets, if we leave the (quite attractive, to be honest) design aside, there is nothing special about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835-powered OnePlus 5T Lava Red. This limited edition flagship has been released to celebrate the four years that OnePlus has spent in the crowded smartphone market and suits its purpose well.

Sadly, there is no information about its availability outside China, where it should go on sale soon starting at CN¥2,999 (roughly US$455). The price mentioned above can get you the 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage version, while the one with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage retails for CN¥3,499 or about US$530.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
