Earlier today Qualcomm announced its latest chipset for high-end gaming handhelds, full details of which we have covered separately. Aimed at tackling PC handhelds like the Legion Go and the ROG Ally (curr. $489.95 on Amazon), the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 should deliver up to 30% CPU and 28% GPU improvements over the existing Snapdragon G3x G2.
Today, Ayaneo has confirmed that the Pocket S2 will be one of the first devices to leverage the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, as well as the larger Gaming Pad. As expected, the Pocket S2 brings across the form factor of the existing Pocket S, which struggled to keep the Snapdragon G3x G2 in check. In response, Ayaneo claims to have included a new 'ultra-large heatsink', as well as an improved fan for maintaining peak performance during prolonged gaming sessions.
The company also boasts that the Pocket S2 has a 'much larger battery capacity' than the Pocket S, albeit without providing any specifics yet. On top of that, the Pocket S2 features upgraded Hall effect joysticks and a 6.3-inch display that Ayaneo implies will come in a single 2,560 x 1,440 (2.5K/1440p) resolution this time. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed when or for how much the Ayaneo Pocket S2 will be available.
