At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025, Ayaneo unveiled its Gaming Pad - the company's first Android-based handheld gaming tablet, powered by Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset. With this, Ayaneo joins an early wave of handheld makers adopting this chipset, alongside devices like the Ayaneo Pocket S2 and OneXSugar Sugar 1.
The Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 platform has been specifically created for handheld gaming consoles. It offers notable performance upgrades: a 30% CPU performance boost and a 28% GPU increase compared to the previous Snapdragon G3 Gen 2. It combines Qualcomm’s Kryo 8-core CPU (featuring 1 prime, 5 performance, and 2 efficiency cores) with the Adreno A32 GPU. This chipset also brings hardware-accelerated ray tracing and Qualcomm’s Game Super Resolution.
Ayaneo's Gaming Pad features an 8.3-inch LCD display at 1440p resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. For connectivity, the device supports Wi-Fi 7 for reliable, high-speed online gaming and cloud streaming. To manage intensive gaming workloads, the company has equipped the Gaming Pad with a specialized cooling system, which reportedly maintains steady performance under prolonged high-load scenarios. Ayaneo has equipped the Gaming Pad with a visible rear-mounted cooling fan. It also supports a wide range of peripherals, from detachable game controllers to traditional keyboards and mice. Motion controls are handled by a built-in six-axis gyroscope.
For multimedia purposes, the Gaming Pad comes with an advanced camera setup which is pretty uncommon for handheld gaming devices. It includes a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide lens on the back, and a 5MP front-facing camera. Audio is delivered via quad-chamber speakers.
Ayaneo's Gaming Pad comes with what the company refers to as an "Explorer Edition" transparent design, with a glass back panel. Ayaneo further states that the system is encased within a CNC-machined metal frame for the sake of a premium feel.
The Ayaneo Gaming Pad will be available starting May 2025, following the launch of the Ayaneo Pocket S2, which also features the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, scheduled for release in March 2025. Pricing and specific configurations are expected soon.
