One-Netbook and Sugar Cubes have finally unveiled the OneXSugar, a collaborative device that the pair initially teased in December. Now called the Sugar 1 with OneXSugar serving as a series name like OneXPlayer, the device is one of the first devices running Qualcomm's new Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset, full details of which we have covered separately.
In short, the Sugar 1 should deliver up to 28% better GPU performance than existing high-end Android gaming handhelds like the Ayaneo Pocket Evo or Pocket S (curr. $589.99 on Amazon). One-Netbook has now elaborated that the device contains a 6.01-inch primary display, although its specifications still remain unknown. Meanwhile, the smaller secondary display is said to measure 3.92-inches across with what appears to be a 1:1 or 4:3 aspect ratio.
As a result, Sugar 1 looks like a Nintendo 2DS XL or 3DS XL in its default posture thanks to a dual display foldable form factor. However, its secondary display can be folded away, and its controllers can be folded upwards to create a conventional horizontal gaming handheld. Alternatively, the secondary display can be used as a top-mounted display, as the video below shows.
One-Netbook has not revealed when it plans to start selling the Sugar 1 yet. Instead, it has confirmed that the device will soon reach crowdfunding website Indiegogo, where it will be available at a 30% launch discount.
