The ModRetro Chromatic launched last year to challenge the Analogue Pocket as the go-to device for Game Boy FPGA emulation. Now, its founder Palmer Luckey has hinted at the existence of a new ModRetro device capable of playing Nintendo 64 cartridges.

Analogue has just announced that its latest device, the Analogue 3D, will not be launching by the end of the month as planned. As it stands, the company has never offered a specific release date for the device. Instead, that information has seemingly been left to 8BitDo to provide, which supplies the Analogue 3D's default controller.

When Analogue showcased the 3D, it had no contemporaries for competition. Since then, Palmer Luckey founded ModRetro and began shipping the ModRetro Chromatic, which took aim squarely at the Analogue Pocket (curr. $309.99 on Amazon) with a lower price point and a more authentic Game Boy emulation experience.

Now, Luckey has teased that ModRetro has an Analogue 3D alternative in development. Based on the image below, it seems that the device could launch as the ModRetro M64. However, neither Luckey nor ModRetro have confirmed the device's name yet. No other details about the device are known yet, including how it will compare against the Analogue 3D.
