Ayaneo released the Pocket S back in April of this year, and it launched as a flagship Android gaming handheld with the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2. Now, the company has refreshed the device by introducing two new limited-edition colorways. One is called Sakura Pink, while the other is called Retro Power.
Both of them give the Android gaming handheld a new outlook, but Ayaneo hasn't yet listed these two limited-edition options on its official store. It's also unclear whether these two colorways will go for a higher price than the standard colorways, and if you're wondering, the regular Pocket S starts at $589.
Nonetheless, other than the new outlook, the limited-edition Pocket S colorways have the same internals as the regular version. That means it's still powered by the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2, which can deliver better performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
This SoC is paired with 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. With the active cooling setup and a dedicated Turbo mode, the Pocket S aims to offer smooth retro emulation and native Android gaming. As for the screen, this handheld features a 6-inch display with up to 1440p resolution, 400 nits of peak brightness rating, and 120% sRGB coverage.
A 6,000 mAh battery powers the internals, which supports PD fast charging (Anker Nano 65 W curr. $39.99 on Amazon). Other highlights of the gaming handheld include Hall effect joysticks, liner Hall triggers, an all-metal midframe, and an ergonomic design.
