Office Depot is currently offering the HP Pavilion Plus 14 for just $469.99 with free shipping. For that price, you're getting a 14-inch OLED with a resolution of 2,880 × 1,800 (incorrectly listed as 2,880 × 1,920 at the store), 90 Hz refresh rate, and a peak HDR brightness of 500 nits.
Now, for the reason the laptop is so cheap — it's equipped with a dated Intel Core i7-12700H. While the Alder Lake processor is still plenty fast for web browsing, office work, and media consumption, playing any demanding games is out of the question. Joining it are 16 GB of soldered DDR4-3200 RAM and a 512 GB SSD occupying the sole M.2 2280 slot.
Connectivity comprises a pair of 10 Gbps USB-C ports (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort 1.4), two 5 Gbps USB-A, HDMI 2.1, a microSD card reader, as well as a 3.5 mm audio combo jack. Also included is a Realtek RTL8852AE wireless card adding support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
The notebook measures 12.34 × 8.83 × 0.72 inches (313 × 224 × 18 mm) and weighs 3.09 lbs (1.4 kg), while fitting a 51 Wh battery that can charge at up to 90 W with the included USB-C power adapter.
Be sure to also check out our review of HP Pavilion Plus 14, which impressed us with its vibrant OLED display (AOC 240 Hz OLED curr. $479.99 on Amazon) and 5-megapixel webcam. Among its shortcomings are the mediocre battery life and the lack of Thunderbolt ports.
