Medion has introduced one of the largest but also most powerful gaming laptops in the world, called the Erazer Beast 18 X1. It weighs a hefty 8.07 lbs, but it’s powered by a Core Ultra 9 275HX, GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU and should be able to outperform many desktop PCs.

Alongside the Beast 16 X1 Ultimate, Medion has also announced the Beast 18 X1 Ultimate. Just like the smaller model, the large flagship laptop is 1.2 inches thick, but it weighs even more at 8.07 lbs. This machine also features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX with a total of 24 cores, as well as an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with 24GB GDDR7 VRAM and a TGP of 175 watts.

Besides the sheer size of the aluminum chassis, the screen is the biggest difference between the Beast 16 and Beast 18. The larger variant is equipped with an 18-inch IPS panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and refresh rate of 240Hz. The sRGB color space is fully covered by this screen. In conjunction with 64GB DDR5 RAM and a 4TB PCIe 5.0 SSD, the Erazer Beast 18 X1 should meet the demands of high-end gamers.

Medion further offers an RGB-backlit keyboard and WiFi 7 module, while wired network connections can be established via Ethernet at 2.5Gbit/s. A rather special feature of the Erazer Beast 18 X1 is the Thunderbolt 5 port, but there are also three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and an SDXC card reader.

Price and availability

The Medion Erazer Beast 18 X1 is expected to become available at the brand’s official online shop for the European market this May. The base configuration with a GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU costs €3,699, while the maxed-out variant with 64GB RAM, a 4TB SSD and a GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU will retail for €4,999.

It's worth pointing out that Medion, like Schenker, Eluktronics and multiple other companies does not design its laptops. Instead, it buys mostly complete systems from vendors such as Clevo and Tongfang meaning the Erazer Beast 18 X1 is highly likely to become available from brands other than Medion at a later date, albeit under a different name.
