With a height of about 1.2 inches and a weight of almost 6 lbs, the new Medion Beast 16 X1 Ultimate isn't particularly portable, but it's supposedly very powerful. The dark gray aluminum chassis is occupied by an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX with 8 performance cores, 16 efficiency cores and boost clock speeds of up to 5.2GHz.
In terms of graphics, gamers can choose between an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop or the RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with 24GB GDDR7 VRAM and a 175W TDP. In combination with a 420W power supply, the laptop allegedly offers extremely high gaming performance. The manufacturer is also selling an optional external water cooling system that should provide an additional performance boost of up to 10%. All SKUs of the new Medion laptop sport 32GB RAM, which can be upgraded to 64GB later on. Similarly, the 2TB SSD can be expanded via a second M.2 slot.
Medion further advertises a 16-inch 16:10 display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, a 300Hz refresh rate and full DCI-P3 color space coverage. The maxed-out variant also uses a mini-LED backlight, which offers higher brightness and a better contrast ratio, although Medion doesn't provide specific details or numbers in this regard.
In addition to a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, the Erazer Beast 16 X1 Ultimate also features three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1a, 2.5Gbit/s Ethernet as well as an SDXC card reader. A 99.8Wh battery and 1080p webcam with a privacy cover are onboard as well.
Price and availability
The Erazer Beast 16 X1 Ultimate is now available in Europe at Medion’s official online store. The base model with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU costs €3,499, while the flagship model with a mini-LED display and GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU is priced at €4,299. The external water cooling system is called the Erazer Cooling Kit V2 and will become available shortly for €249.
It's worth pointing out that Medion, like Schenker, Eluktronics and multiple other companies does not design its laptops. Instead, it buys mostly complete systems from vendors such as Clevo and Tongfang meaning the Erazer Beast 16 X1 Ultimate is highly likely to become available from brands other than Medion at a later date, albeit under a different name.
