After the original Onyx Boox Mira Pro e-ink monitor was announced in late 2023, a Color Edition is now following suit. As the name suggests, the new model can display 4,096 colors in addition to 16 grayscale levels, as the manufacturer opted for a modern Kaleido 3 e-ink panel. Otherwise, the features and specs remain unchanged.
Therefore, the 25.3-inch screen still has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels with a pixel density of 145 PPI. Typical for e-ink, the monitor doesn’t need a backlight in sufficient day or ambient light, as it reflects light similar to real paper. In case the monitor is used at night, a front light can be turned on and the color temperature can be adjusted from cool to warm white. Furthermore, the Onyx Boox Mira Pro Color supports a video mode which increases the refresh rate at the expense of image quality.
However, prospective buyers should note that e-ink monitors are still not suitable for watching videos or for gaming. The monitor ships with a height-adjustable aluminum stand with a pivot function and VESA compatibility for third-party monitor stands and mounts. Onyx further advertises stereo speakers and four different ports, including HDMI, mini HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C. That said, USB-C Power Delivery is not supported.
