Boox has announced two new E Ink readers under its Go series. The new Boox Go 7 and Boox Go Color 7 (Gen II) have physical page turn buttons, stylus support, and integrated speakers that give them an edge over rivals.

Onyx has announced the Boox Go 7 series as the newest iteration of its Android-powered e-readers. The series includes the Boox Go 7 which has a monochrome E Ink screen and the Boox Go Color 7 (Gen II) which has a color E Ink screen. The latter arrives as a rival to the Kindle Colorsoft (curr. available on Amazon for $224.99)

With respect to their design, both e-readers have their displays almost flush with the frame unlike Amazon's e-readers which have a recessed display. The bezels are slim, save for the side that has the physical page turn buttons; while the frame is curved. Onyx says the e-readers have a water-repellent design that offers protection against accidental spills, splashes, or light rain. Considering the lack of an official IP rating, it is best to keep the e-readers protected nonetheless.

The two Boox Go 7 e-readers have identical specifications, save for the different displays. The Boox Go 7 has a 7-inch HD E Ink Carta 1300 screen while the Boox Go Color 7 has a 7-inch Kaleido 3 Carta 1200 screen that can display up to 4096 colors. Both have a 1680 x 1264 resolution (300 ppi in monochrome mode), adjustable front light, and auto-rotation.

They also have support for an optional capacitive stylus called the Boox InkSense stylus, allowing users to not only take notes and sketch, but also annotate, highlight, and write on the books they are reading. The e-readers come with templates for notebooks, a drawing app with different brushes and colors (for the Boox Go Color 7 Gen II), the ability to turn handwritten notes into texts, and a lasso tool for organizing notes.

The Boox Go 7 series e-readers have an unnamed octa-core processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There's also a microSD card slot for adding more storage and built-in speakers so owners don't need to connect a pair of headphones to listen to an audiobook. The new devices ship with Android 13 and come with Google Play Store pre-installed, so users can install browsers, news apps, voice recording apps, and more. There's a 2300mAh battery in both devices with support for charging via USB-C.

The Boox Go 7 is available to order now for $249.99 in the US, £219.99 in the UK, and €249.99 in the rest of Europe. They are only available on the Boox store for now but will be available on Amazon later. On the other hand, the Boox Go Color 7 (Gen II) will be available later for $279.99, £249.99, and €279.99. The InkSense stylus will retail for $45.99 while a magnetic case available in Beige (Pu leather with a pen loop) and Gray (fabric without a pen loop) will cost $39.99.
