MSI has now confirmed that the MAG 272UP X24 will be launching globally later this year as an alternative to the existing MPG 272URX. While the MAG 272UP X24 will match the MPG 272URX with a 4K and 240 Hz QD-OLED panel, it saves on a few features to hit a lower price tag.

MSI has introduced plenty of gaming monitors lately after releasing the MPG 272URX at the start of the year (curr. $999.99 on Amazon). For context, the company has also presented the MAG 271QP X24, MAG 272UP X24 and MAG 273QP X24 in the last few months, among others. While it confirmed specifications for all three monitors, it left availability up for debate.

For example, MSI had only previously revealed the MAG 272UP X24 in China. Now, it has listed the monitor on its global website ahead of a presumed worldwide release. In the process, MSI has confirmed all hardware specifications for its new 27-inch gaming monitor too, the datasheet for which we have embedded below.

Consequently, it is clear that the MAG 272UP X24 utilises the same 4K and 240 Hz QD-OLED panel as the MPG 272URX and the ROG Strix XG27UCDMG that Asus started selling in the US for $979.99. Also, the former's datasheet allows us to assess the difference between it and the MPG 272URX.

For example, MSI has cut costs by dropping Nvidia G-Sync compatibility for VESA Adaptive-Sync support. Similarly, the company has done away with the USB Type-A and Type-B ports it includes in the MPG 272URX. The USB Type-C connection in the MAG 272UP X24 has been downgraded from 98 W to 15 W Power Delivery too; the swap of DisplayPort 2.1a for DisplayPort 1.4a was already known. The MAG 272UP X24 misses out on PiP and PBP functionality as well but appears to retain the same stand design. Please see MSI's website and the datasheet below for more details.
