MSI has now begun shipping the MPG 272URX QD-OLED globally as its latest 27-inch gaming monitor. For context, the company presented the MPG 272URX alongside the MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 shortly before CES 2025. A few weeks later, it began selling the former in China for the same price as the MPG 271QRX (curr. $749.99 on Amazon).
The MPG 272URX surpasses its effective predecessor in a few areas, including a switch from 1440p to a 4K resolution. As a result, the MPG 272URX has a 50% higher pixel density, which comes in at 166 PPI compared to 110 PPI for the MPG 271QRX. The newer monitor also can recharge connected devices at up to 98 W; the MPG 272QRX topped out at 90 W. Arguably, a bigger improvement is the adoption of DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, which provides uncompressed 4K and 240 Hz visuals when paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series GPU.
In short, MSI has only extended pricing for the MPG 272URX to the UK, where it retails for £998.99, including taxes. By contrast, the MPG 272URX is significantly more expensive in Europe and the US than the MPG 271QRX, which launched just under a year ago for €999.99 and $799.99. This time around, MSI's latest 27-inch gaming monitor has reached Europe for €1,199 and $1,099.99 in the US. In other words, the MPG 272QRX costs as much as the Asus ROG Swift PG27UCDM in the US, launch details for which we have covered separately.
