MSI has just started shipping the MPG 272URX QD-OLED as a successor of sorts to the MPG 271QRX QD-OLED (curr. $625 on Amazon). The company has now presented a second 27-inch gaming monitor based around a modern QD-OLED panel sourced from Samsung Display. The monitor in question is the MAG 273QP QD-OLED X24, or MAG 273QP X24 for short.
In short, MAG monitors sit below their MPG counterparts in MSI's gaming monitor hierarchy. In practical terms, this means that the MAG 273QP X24 misses out on USB ports. Instead, MSI includes one DisplayPort 1.4a (HBR3) and two HDMI 2.1 ports for connecting devices like a laptop or PC. The monitor features a height, pivot, tilt and swivel adjustable stand too, as well as 100 x 100 mm VESA mounts for third-party monitor arm solutions.
The MAG 273QP X24 outputs at 2,560 x 1,440 (1440p) with a 240 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms GtG response times and 1,000 nits peak brightness (3% APL). In other words, MSI has re-used the Gen 3 QD-OLED panel from the MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2, which it released for $699.99. As far as we can tell, two main differences exist between the MAG 273QP X24 and MAG 271QPX E2, one of which is USB connectivity. The MAG 273QP X24 also eschews AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification for Adaptive-Sync dynamic refresh rate technology, which indicates that the former should be slightly cheaper than the latter at launch. It remains to be seen when MSI will release the MAG 273QP X24 for now though, let alone for how much.
