The UltraGear OLED 45GX950A is one of two new 45-inch gaming monitors that LG has released this year, having launched the UltraGear OLED 45GS95QE roughly a year earlier. While the also new UltraGear OLED 34GX90SA and UltraGear OLED 39GX90SA share the origins with past UltraGear OLED gaming monitors, the UltraGear OLED 45GX950A contains an entirely new 44.5-inch WOLED panel.
Specifically, LG equips the UltraGear OLED 45GX950A with a panel that outputs at 5,120 x 2,160 pixels. Commonly abbreviated to 5K2K, the panel is considerably more pixel-dense than the 1440p equivalent found in the UltraGear OLED 45GS95QE (curr. $1,697 on Amazon). However, this jump to a 5K2K resolution has resulted in a refresh rate drop from 240 Hz to 165 Hz.
To compensate, the UltraGear OLED 45GX950A leverages LG's Dual Mode technology to offer a second 1080p and 330 Hz display mode. The UltraGear OLED 45GX990A retails for JPY 417,468 (~$2,799) in Japan, which makes it pricier than last year's UltraGear OLED 45GS95QE. With that being said, the new monitor is available at at a 21% launch discount to JPY 329,800 (~$2,211) at the time of publication. Please see LG's website for more details.
