MSI MPG 271QRX QD-OLED launch pricing thwarts Dell Alienware AW2725DF in the US with 360 Hz glossy OLED panel but not in other markets
MSI has released the MPG 271QRX QD-OLED across Europe, the UK and the US, having unveiled the 360 Hz and 1440p gaming monitor last month at CES 2024 with a glossy display finish. For context, roughly a fortnight has passed since MSI opened pre-orders for the MPG 321URX QD-OLED and MAG 341CQP QD-OLED (curr. $949.99 on Amazon). Since then, the company admitted that the cheaper MAG 271QPX QD-OLED and MAG 321UPX QD-OLED will be ineligible for firmware updates, details of which we have covered separately.
As for the MPG 271QRX QD-OLED, it is one of several new 26.5-inch gaming monitors based around Samsung Display's smaller Gen 3 QD-OLED panel technology. For reference, other examples include the ASRock Phantom Gaming PGO270W2A and Dell Alienware AW2725DF. However, only the latter is orderable at the time of writing for $899.99 in the US, £779 in the UK and €889 in the Eurozone. By contrast, MSI has sought to undercut Dell in the US but not in the Eurozone or the UK.
Specifically, the MPG 271QRX QD-OLED retails for $799.99 in the US but £999.99 in the UK and €999.99 in the Eurozone. Thus, the MPG 271QRX QD-OLED is significantly more expensive than the Alienware AW2725DF outside the US. Please note that while the MPG 271QRX QD-OLED will begin shipping next week in the US, the monitor will not reach the UK until April 23 at the earliest. Please see our MPG 271QRX QD-OLED launch article for more hardware details.
