Earlier this week, Jon Prosser shared what he claimed to be new insights into the iPhone 17 Air, previously known as the iPhone 17 Slim. In summary, the YouTuber alleged that Apple would rival Samsung and the Galaxy S25 Edge with a larger display than had previously been expected.
While Samsung has not revealed display specifications for the Galaxy S25 Edge yet, it is expected to use the 6.7-inch display from the Galaxy S25 Plus (curr. $1,019.99 on Amazon). Reportedly, Apple would match Samsung in this regard rather than opting for a 6.6-inch panel as had previously been reported.
According to Ross Young, neither of these sizes are an accurate representation of what to expect from Apple's first 'Air' iPhone release. Instead, the founder of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) states that the iPhone 17 Air will arrive sporting a 6.55-inch panel, which would put it between the display sizes of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Plus.
Young adds that this panel size will remain unchanged for the iPhone 17 Air's successor too, due in 2026. The analyst indicates that this could change in 2027, with a larger panel potentially taking the place of the 6.55-inch one mentioned. Unfortunately, Young has not provided any specifics in this regard yet.
