Apple has just released the iPhone 16E globally. With all the details about Apple's latest mid-range smartphone now known, various sources have pivoted to sharing insights into the iPhone 17 series and how it may differ from Apple's current flagships.
To recap, Apple is expected to shake up this autumn's iPhone releases with the iPhone 17 Air, which has also been referred to as the iPhone 17 Slim at various junctures. Reportedly, the iPhone 17 Air will replace the iPhone 16 Plus in Apple's lineup, along with straight successors to the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
According to analyst Jeff Pu, Apple plans to bring a second RAM upgrade to market in as many years, having brought non-Pro iPhones up to 8 GB of RAM with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus (curr. $774.97 - renewed on Amazon). This time, Pu states that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will launch with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, having previously suggested that this upgrade could be limited to only the latter device.
Unsurprisingly, Pu expects a 50% RAM improvement to improve Apple Intelligence and multitasking performance. If other rumours are accurate, then 12 GB of RAM will be one of many upgrades that Apple plans to introduce with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Allegedly, this year's Pro iPhones could also showcase a new camera design, as well as a lighter aluminium frame and an in-house Wi-Fi 7 chip, among other changes.
