The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to launch months before Apple gets around to releasing the iPhone 17 Air. Regardless, Apple's super-slim iPhone could get the better of its Samsung counterpart in a crucial area.

The launch of the iPhone 17 Air is likely more than six months away. For reference, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Nonetheless, leakers like Ice Universe continue to pontificate about Apple's first 'Air' branded iPhone.

This time, the leaker claims to have received confirmation that the iPhone 17 Air will retain the same height and width as the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which are slated to be 163 mm and 77.6 mm, respectively. In other words, two of Apple's next-generation iPhones will be as tall and wide as the existing iPhone 16 Pro Max (curr. $1,019 - renewed on Amazon).

The key trick to the iPhone 17 Air will be its thickness or lack thereof. According to Ice Universe, Apple's first iPhone 'Air' will be 5.5 mm thick, compared to 8.73 mm for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This would not only see the iPhone 17 Air lining up with an almost 40% thinner design than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but it would also see the same device undercutting the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge by 0.34 mm.
