Apple's new iPhone 16e is now widely available after its debut last week. Benchmark results from unknown quarters surfaced earlier showcasing the mid-range phone's CPU and GPU inferiority versus the iPhone 16, but the iPhone 16e has now finally been put through its paces by verified outlets.
As tested by popular media Geekerwan, the iPhone 16e performs right on par with the iPhone 16 in the CPU department. The phone scores 3,520 and 9,181 on Geekbench 6's single-core and multi-core tests respectively. The standard iPhone 16 scores 3,509 and 9,018 on those same tests, confirming the invalidity of previously reported benchmark numbers that showed the iPhone 16 with around a 10% advantage. That's about expected, as both phones have the same CPU core count and clock speeds.
The iPhone 16e performs worse than the iPhone 16 on GPU tests, though, thanks to its weaker quad-core GPU. The iPhone 16 features a penta-core GPU. On 3DMark's WildLife Extreme test, the iPhone 16e earns a score of 3,862 versus the iPhone 16 Plus's 4,588. On the Nomad Light test, it's a score of 1,627 for the iPhone 16e, while the iPhone 16 Plus scores 1,916. Conclusively, the iPhone 16's GPU is about 18% more powerful than the iPhone 16e's.
