YouTuber WekiHome has revealed the internal changes that Xiaomi has made between the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra. While the latter's new 200 MP telephoto takes up a lot of space, Xiaomi has also made a few key changes to the returning Sony LYT-900 primary camera sensor.

WekiHome has already taken apart the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, less than 24 hours after its official launch in China. As a result, while Xiaomi will not be presenting the device globally until later this week, it is already possible to see what is lurking beneath its huge camera housing. Incidentally, Xiaomi went to lengths to show the size of its new 200 MP telephoto camera, which it has based on Samsung's ISOCELL HP9 sensor.

WekiHome has gone much further though by comparing all the camera sensors inside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra against its predecessor (curr. $1,029 on Amazon). For instance, the YouTuber confirms that Xiaomi has done away with last year's variable aperture entirely, which moved freely between f/1.63 and f/4.0. In its place arrives a new glass filter that Xiaomi claims will do a better job at diffusing reflections.

The motherboard has grown in size to accommodate the new telephoto camera sensor too, and now spans almost half the phone. Unfortunately, this year's Ultra remains as difficult to repair as ever thanks to a multitude of screws, plastic retaining parts and glue. Please see the video below for more details about the internals of Xiaomi's new flagship and how it compares with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
