Many Chinese companies typically launch their flagship phones in the last quarter of the year. For example, the flagship OnePlus 13, Xiaomi 15 series, and Vivo X200 series were released in October 2024 in China. However, things may change this year as Digital Chat Station, a popular tipster, has reasons to believe that multiple companies will be targeting September for their phones.
The highlight of these phones will be the next-gen chipsets: Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and the Dimensity 9500. Previous leaks have suggested that these chipsets may achieve a single-core score of around 4000 on GeekBench 6. The Snapdragon 8 Elite typically scores around 3200 in the same test, so we can expect a potential 25% performance boost for its successor.
Furthermore, these devices are rumored to feature a flat-screen design with thin bezels. The tipster did not reveal exactly which phones will be launched in September. Based on previous years, companies including Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Vivo are usually among the first to offer phones with new flagship SoCs.
One of the main reasons for an earlier launch could be to challenge the iPhone 17 series, which is also expected to be announced in September. The A19 chip is expected to power the standard iPhone 17 and 17 Air. While the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max may use the A19 Pro chip. The previous rumors suggest that the A19 and A19 Pro as well as the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 may utilize the TSMC's latest 3nm (N3P) process. Do note that all this information is based on a leak, and nothing is official yet, so take it with a pinch of salt.
