The Redmi K80 series was launched in November 2024. The series consists of two models: the Redmi K80 and the K80 Pro. Potential details of the Redmi K90 Pro, which is expected to launch in Q4 2025, have surfaced online.
The leak comes from a reputable tipster, Digital Chat Station. The leak is about a next-gen “Pro” model of a sub-flagship series. While the tipster doesn’t explicitly name the phone, the comments strongly suggest that it is the Redmi K90 Pro.
According to the leak, the phone will feature a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. It is also said to have a flat display with a 2K resolution similar to its predecessor, the K80 Pro.
Lastly, the alleged K90 Pro is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. This aligns with Redmi's pattern of using the latest flagship processors in its Pro models - the K70 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the K80 Pro uses the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
As far as the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is concerned, we do not have any concrete information. However, a leak suggests a 25% performance improvement over its predecessor. The chip may be announced in October, following its predecessor's release timeline.
For those unaware, the Redmi K series is usually rebranded as Poco phones for the global market. The Redmi K70 was launched as the Poco F6 Pro in international markets. Similarly, we expect the Redmi K90 Pro to launch with Poco branding outside China, likely as the Poco F8 Ultra. Since the details discussed are based on leaks and rumors, they should be taken with a pinch of salt until officially confirmed.
