Both Qualcomm and MediaTek are expected to release new chipsets next month, with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400+ to be adopted by a slew of devices right after. Both companies have their sights set on their next-gen flagship models, however, and a new leak has now revealed more information on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500.
As reported by Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm is set to launch two flagship chipsets at the end of the year, with the model designations "SM8850" and "SM8845". While the former is almost definitely the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2—or whatever the Snapdragon 8 Elite's successor is branded as—it's not clear what "SM8845" is. Either way, both chipsets will be built on TSMC's 3nm node and continue using Qualcomm's Nuvia designs.
Like its Qualcomm counterpart, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 series will also be built on TSMC's 3nm N3P process. Two chipsets are expected as well: the Dimensity 9500 and the tentatively named Dimensity 9450. Presumably, the "Dimensity 9450" will be a cheaper, slightly less powerful version of the main Dimensity 9500.
The Dimensity 9500 will feature a 1+3+4 core configuration, featuring ARM's unreleased X9 and A7 series cores, codenamed "Travis", "Alto", and "Gelas". On the GPU side, MediaTek will continue with ARM's Immortalis series as well. Supposedly, the Dimensity 9500 could achieve a total AnTuTu score in the region of 3.5 million. Comparatively, the most powerful Dimensity 9400 device on AnTuTu's official rankings, the Vivo X200 Pro, manages a total score of 2.44 million—so this would be a significant upgrade.
