MediaTek Dimensity 9500 to beat the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 to launch
Qualcomm is slated to launch its flagship SoC for the year, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, rather early this time out. Despite that, it appears close rivals MediaTek will beat the American company to the punch either way—if a new leak is anything to go by.
As shared by leaker Digital Chat Station, MediaTek is preparing its Dimensity 9500 flagship chipset to launch before Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 this year. The leaker doesn't reveal when exactly the MediaTek chipset will debut but Qualcomm has already confirmed a September 23 date for the start of its Snapdragon Summit, so the Dimensity 9500 can be expected to arrive shortly before that.
As is the norm, the official launches of those two chipsets will be followed right after by the debuts of next-gen flagship models featuring the duo. Devices like the Xiaomi 16, iQOO 14, and a direct successor to the OnePlus 13 will likely launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, while the Dimensity 9500 is expected to be adopted in short order by the Oppo Find X9 and Vivo X300 series.
