Qualcomm has since confirmed its plans to launch its next-gen smartphone flagship chipset, expected to be branded as the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, in September. Apparently, however, MediaTek could just about beat it to the punch.
As shared by leaker Digital Chat Station, MediaTek has tentatively scheduled the release of its own flagship SoC, the Dimensity 9500, for September 22. Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit is scheduled to take place between September 23 and September 25, effectively ensuring that MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 launchesjust before the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
While details of the Dimensity 9500 remain unconfirmed, the chipset appeared on Geekbench a few months ago with an all-new Mali G1-Ultra MC12 GPU tipped to offer 40% better efficiency and ray-tracing performance compared to the Immortal-G925 MC12 on the Dimensity 9400.
The MediaTek chipset, like its predecessors, can be expected to deliver identical performance to the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, and will be adopted by Oppo and Vivo on their next-gen Find X9 and X300 flagship phone lineups. Devices like the successor to the OnePlus 13 (buy on Amazon), as well as the Xiaomi 16, will opt for Qualcomm's chipset, however.
