Xiaomi 15 Ultra: Early photo comparisons show the strength of Xiaomi's latest flagship

Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 15 Ultra globally on Sunday in Barcelona just before the start of MWC 2025. However, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (curr. $1,029 on Amazon) successor is already available in China, where it went on sale yesterday. As a result, early adopters are already putting Xiaomi's latest flagship through its paces.

So far, a particular focus has been paid to Xiaomi's camera package, including its new 200 MP telephoto sensor. Incidentally, the sheer size of this sensor was revealed ahead of schedule by Xiaomi itself. Likewise, the company showcased official camera samples, although these should always be treated as a best-case scenario for any smartphone.

Early independent comparisons suggest that the new telephoto camera inside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra outperforms the comparable Vivo X200 Pro in many scenarios. For reference, both devices leverage identical Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensors. Xiaomi opts for a wider f/2.6 aperture though, as well as a 100 mm equivalent focal length. Ultimately, some of the differences will come down to colour science and sharpening preferences by either brand. Nonetheless, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra appears to cut a fine figure at this early stage.
