Reburn has announced its new story driven sci-fi shooter called La Quimera, which is available for wishlisting on Steam. The team shared a short announcement trailer showing off in game captured footage, hinting at the storyline and showcasing some of the mechanics, enemies, and characters that are part of La Quimera. The game does not have a release date yet, but the Steam listing describes the setting and states that it will have online co-op.
Reburn, formerly known as 4A Games Ukraine, is made up of former Metro game series programmers, artists, designers, animators, and QA teams. The Metro series was based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's novel of the same name and quickly became a fan favorite. There are four games in the series titled Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, Metro Exodus, and Metro Awakening. Now, most of those developers are back with a new first-person IP that is set in 2064 Latin American megalopolis.
The trailer shows a group of PMC (private military companies) operatives engaging what look to be weaponized robot dogs. It goes on to show some more gunfights, gadgets, exosuits, and some stunning looking environments. The Steam page for La Quimera states, “As PMC operatives, you’ll take on intense high-risk campaign in a dystopian world of future Latin America across a breathtaking megalopolis and lush jungle combining highly advanced weaponry and technology battling against rival factions.”
It is a story driven sci-fi shooter, but the Steam page mentions online co-op and it would be interesting to see how that is implemented. The Metro games have been exclusively singleplayer. As mentioned earlier, La Quimera does not have a release date yet.
