Vivo has just unveiled its latest entry-level smartphone, the Vivo Y300i, on its home turf, i.e., China. The Y300i comes as a successor to the Y200i, which debuted last year. However, it doesn’t offer any major upgrades over the previous generation model. More specifically, it retains the same processor, display, and camera.
The Vivo Y300i is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset paired with up to 12 GB of RAM, as well as either 256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 2.2 storage with no room for storage expansion. It runs Android 15-based Origin OS 5 out of the box. Speaking of software updates, there’s no word on software support from the brand.
For photography, the smartphone features a 50 MP single rear camera and a 5 MP front camera for capturing selfies and video chats. The 5G-enabled device sports a 6.68-inch IPS LCD display that outputs at a resolution of 1608 x 720p, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a 90.34% screen-to-body ratio.
Dimensionally, it measures 165.7 x 76.3 x 8.19 mm (6.52 x 3 x 0.32 inches) and weighs 205 grams (0.45 lbs). Furthermore, the device houses a 6,500 mAh battery that supports 44 W wired charging. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, up to 12 GB of RAM expansion, and NFC support.
Available in rime blue, titanium, and black jade, the Vivo Y300i starts at CNY 1,499 (~$207) for the base 8 GB + 256 GB model, the 12 GB + 256 GB variant costs CNY 1,599 (~$221), and the high-end 12 GB + 512 GB model retails at CNY 1,799 ($248). The smartphone is now available for pre-order via Vivo’s official website and will go on sale in China starting from 14th March.
