Samsung Galaxy F16 5G: Samsung’s new midrange smartphone debuts with Dimensity 6300 processor and six years of updates
Samsung has introduced a new F-series smartphone in India, the Galaxy F16 5G. Samsung’s new midrange smartphone is a rebranded version of the Galaxy M16 5G (curr. at $143 on Amazon). The Galaxy F16 5G comes with significant upgrades over its predecessor, i.e., the Galaxy F15 5G, in terms of display, processor, and camera.
The Samsung Galaxy F16 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor (up from the Dimensity 6100+ of the F15 5G) paired with an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, up to 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 1.5 TB via a microSD card. The device runs Android 14-based One UI 6.0 out of the box. The company promises six major OS updates (Android 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, & 20) and six years of security updates.
The display size is also bigger than before. Specifically, the handset sports a Super AMOLED panel that measures 6.7 inches and resolves at 2340 x 1080 pixels with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Dimensionally, it measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9 mm (6.47 x 3.06 x 0.31 inches) and weighs 192 grams (0.42 lbs).
Furthermore, the Galaxy F16 5G has a 5,000 mAh battery (down from the 6,000 mAh of the F15 5G) that supports just 25 W wired charging. For photography, Samsung has installed a 50 MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 5 MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 2 MP macro sensor. At the front, there’s a 13 MP shooter for capturing selfies and video chats. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, bottom-ported speakers, and NFC support. Unfortunately, the device lacks water and dust resistance.
Available in Vibing Blue, Bling Black, and Glam Green colorways, the Galaxy F16 5G starts at Rs 11,499 (~$131.83) for the base 4 GB + 128 GB model. It will be available via Samsung’s official website and Flipkart starting tomorrow, 13th March.
