Samsung announces new mid-range 5G smartphone running Android 14 with colossal battery capacity
Samsung has released yet another mid-range smartphone. While there have been numerous leaks surrounding the Galaxy A35 5G and Galaxy A55 5G of late, Samsung has decided to offer up a new Galaxy F series handset instead. Specifically, the company has released the Galaxy F15 5G, a device that shares plenty of features with the Galaxy A15 5G that it launched at the start of the year.
For example, a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ sits at the heart of the Galaxy F15 5G, which is also the case for the Galaxy A15 5G. As such, the Galaxy F15 5G has four ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores at its disposal, along with four Cortex-A55 CPU cores and a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. Additionally, Samsung complements the mid-range chipset with two memory options up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. By contrast, the Galaxy A15 5G comes in three RAM configurations culminating in 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
Moreover, the Galaxy F15 5G has a 6,000 mAh battery, a 20% improvement over the 5,000 mAh equivalent that powers the Galaxy A15 5G. On top of that, Samsung has included a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display outputting at 1080p and 90 Hz, plus 50 MP primary, 13 MP front-facing, 5 MP ultra-wide-angle and 2 MP macro cameras. Samsung adds that the Galaxy F15 5G will also receive five years of Android security patch updates and four major OS upgrades from Android 14. Currently, the Galaxy F15 5G is exclusively sold in India, where sales start today. For reference, the handset starts at INR 11,999 (~$145) with 4 GB of RAM and rises to INR 13,499 (~$163) with 6 GB of RAM; both memory configurations feature 128 GB of storage, though.
