Samsung Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A15 5G debut as cheap smartphones with upgrades until 2028 and Android 18
Samsung has now unveiled the Galaxy A15 and the Galaxy A15 5G, two affordable smartphones with similar hardware. For context, the pair arrive shortly after the launch of the Galaxy A25 5G, which we have covered separately. While the Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A15 5G are comparatively cheap smartphones, they will still receive four major Android updates from Android 14 and a fifth year of security patches.
Starting with the similarities, both smartphones have 6.5-inch Super AMOLED displays that resolve at 1080p with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 800 nits peak brightness. Additionally, Samsung equips the pair with 50 MP primary, 2 MP macro and 13 MP front-facing cameras like the Galaxy A25 5G but a 5 MP ultra-wide-angle camera too. Moreover, both smartphones utilise a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 25 W fast charging, expandable store and the same 'key island' design found on the Galaxy A25 5G.
The Galaxy A15 and the Galaxy A15 5G diverge when it comes to their chipsets, though. Specifically, the Galaxy A15 relies upon the MediaTek Helio G99, the same chipset that powers the Galaxy A24 (curr. $174.90 on Amazon). On the other hand, the Galaxy A15 5G has a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ installed, a more powerful option found in the Xiaomi Redmi 13C 5G too. For reference, Samsung has priced the Galaxy A15 at VND 4,500,000 (~$185) in Vietnam. By contrast, its 5G sibling starts at VND 6,290,000 (~$258). Although both should be available with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Samsung has not confirmed global release details yet.
