Nubia continues to reveal details about the Z60 Ultra, the company's first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphone. For context, the Z60 Ultra will succeed several Z50 series handsets, including the Z50S and Z50S Pro (curr. $679 on Amazon). While these pair arrived within the last few months, Nubia claims to have equipped the Z60 Ultra with several meaningful upgrades like new under-display camera technology.
According to the company's promotional materials, the fifth-generation technology can hardly be seen, even upon close inspection. Nubia has also shown the amount of space its solution saves by comparing the Z60 Ultra against an iPhone 15 Pro. Incidentally, the former appears to have a brighter display panel than the latter, too. However, it is unclear whether Nubia set the iPhone 15 Pro to maximum brightness, which is approximately 1,000 nits across its full panel.
Additionally, Nubia has confirmed the Z60 Ultra's rear-facing camera hardware, which reads well on paper:
- Primary: 50 MP, 1/1.55-inch, 35 mm lens, OIS
- Ultra-wide-angle: 50 MP, 1/1.56-inch, 18 mm lens, OIS
- Telephoto: 64 MP, 1/2-inch sensor, 85 mm lens, OIS
Predictably, the company has also published various sample photos designed to demonstrate the Z60 Ultra's camera capabilities, such as fast autofocus, impressive colour accuracy and striking HDR processing. Unfortunately, Nubia has not disclosed whether these images have been professionally edited or improved using photo editing software.
At any rate, Nubia has now published official promotional images of its next flagship, which it will unveil on December 19 in China. In the meantime, Digital Chat Station has showcased various hands-on photos, confirming that the Z60 Ultra will be available with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. All mated to a 2,480 x 1,116-pixel display, the Z60 Ultra appears to have thicker display bezels than Nubia's promotional images suggest.
