Apple brings new features and improvements to Macs and Apple Watches with macOS Sonoma 14.2 and watchOS 10.2 updates
Apple has finalised macOS 14.2, the second significant update for macOS Sonoma since the operating system's launch earlier this year. Like iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2, macOS Sonoma 14.2 introduces various new weather-tracking features, whether that be the option of monitoring wind changes throughout a 24-hour period or expected rain and snowfall over the next 10 days. In a similar vein, macOS Sonoma 14.2 adds new widgets that can show air quality, rain levels and sunset/sunrise times.
Additionally, Apple has finally enabled the ability for a compatible Mac to autofill a PDF with names and addresses stored in the Contacts app. Moreover, macOS Sonoma 14.2 expands Shazam Music Recognition to Safari. According to Apple's changelog, this feature even works when wearing AirPods, although this seemingly does not extend to third-party audio equipment.
Meanwhile, watchOS 10.2 integrates Health app information with Siri. However, Apple is only offering this feature for Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 smartwatches, despite their similarities with their predecessors. Furthermore, watchOS 10.2 sees the return of a swipe gesture to cycle between installed watch faces. Available in watchOS 9, the feature was removed for watchOS 10 as part of Apple's UX overhaul. Please note that this feature must be enabled within the Settings app before it will be active.
