A new report from Mark Gurman has confirmed various rumors about the next version of the Apple Watch. The model, expected to be the Apple Watch X, will have a refreshed design and come with two health tracking features. These tools will help users to detect high blood pressure and sleep apnea.

Mark Gurman has confirmed rumors about the next iteration of the Apple Watch in his latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg. According to the report, at least one model with a refreshed appearance is in the works, expected to be the Apple Watch X. This would be the first design change made since the Apple Watch Series 7

Earlier rumors suggest this could include a thinner case and magnetically attached watch straps. However, little else is known about the new model's design. Gurman also said that two new health features were on the way to help users detect hypertension, or high blood pressure, and sleep apnea, when your breathing repeatedly stops and starts while you sleep. These tools were discussed earlier this year, expected to alert users in either case and suggest they seek further testing from a medical professional.

Older reports claim that a blood pressure diary will arrive with the new health feature, allowing users to note events which occurred in the time leading up to the spike, which could explain the higher reading. According to Gurman, the Apple Watch Series 9 is predicted to sell poorly over the festive season despite the release of the new double-tap gesture. Looking into 2024 and beyond, the company is allegedly hoping for a boost in sales driven by these new health features.
