Highlights for the new VIA 14 Pro include 32 GB DDR5-6400 RAM as base option, dual M.2 SSD slots with PCIe 4.0 X4 speeds, microSD card reader and a 14-inch LTPS-IPS screen with 2880x1800 resolution.

Even though AMD’s Phoenix processors are quite powerful on their own with the help of the Radeon 780M iGPU, and could make for a great ultrabook solution, most OEMs still prefer to pair them with a dGPU, including them in gaming laptops. XMG / Schenker is one of the few OEMs to now offer an AMD Phoenix ultrabook without a dGPU option, as it introduces the VIA 14 Pro model. Powered by the Ryzen 7 7840HS processor and featuring a 3K 120 Hz 14-inch display, the Schenker VIA 14 Pro combines slick looks with competitive pricing.

Schenker includes a thin & light aluminum chassis that has a 18.3 mm profile and a total weight of 1.39 kg. Despite the slim look, this model integrates a robust cooling system with three heatpipes plus two 45 mm cooling fans that allow the processor to run at its full 54 W TDP and score up to 15,848 points in Cinebench R23. An important part in achieving such scores is played by the 32 GB of DDR5-6400 RAM provided with the base configuration, which also complements the Radeon 780M performance. For storage, there are 2x M.2 slots both with PCIe 4.0 X4 speeds.

On the display side, the VIA 14 Pro comes with a variable refresh rate 2880×1800 LTPS-IPS display that can run at either 60 Hz or 120 Hz. Maximum brightness is 300 nits with 95% sRGB color gamut and Freesync compatibility, as well as a 180-degree hinge for more versatility.

Port selection features 2x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (DP and PD modes), 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (PD mode), HDMI 2.0 video out, combo audio jack and microSD card reader. Wireless connectivity is offered through a Wi-Fi 6 +BT 5.2 card. Also included is a 60 Wh battery that charges via the USB-C connectors and can last up to 11 h.

Pricing is particularly competitive for the EU region, since the base configuration for the VIA 14 Pro with R7 7840 HS, 32 GB RAM and 512 GB Samsung 980 SSD is available now for pre-orders at only €1,099. Shipping will begin in January 2024.
