Schenker refreshes KEY 17 PRO mobile workstation with Intel 14th gen Core i9 CPU and two Thunderbolt 5 ports
Schenker / XMG has refreshed the specs on its flagship KEY 17 Pro mobile workstation with powerful new features, including a faster processor and wireless connectivity plus updated ports.
The M24 version now integrates two Thunderbolt 5 connectors, each providing 80 Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth. With Bandwidth Boost support, users can enjoy up to 120 Gbps for video output, while maintaining 40 Gbps for data transfer back to the laptop. Both ports can be used simultaneously without any bandwidth limitations. However, only one of the ports offers power delivery and both are limited to DisplayPort 1.4a for video output because of the limitations imposed by Nvidia on the RTX 4000 series. Support for DisplayPort 2.1 speeds with full bandwidth for a maximum uncompressed resolution of 7680 x 4320 @72 Hz 10 bit will most likely come with the next gen RTX 5000 series.
Instead of the Intel i9-13900HX on last year’s variant, the processor on the M24 version has been upgraded to an i9-14900HX. Otherwise, the specs are mostly the same from last year, with a choice between RTX 4080 or 4090 for dGPU, up to 96 GB DDR5-5600 RAM via 2x SO-DIMMs and a 1x PCIe 5.0 + 2x PCIe 4.0 slot combo for SSD storage solutions.
Display-wise, Schenker is still offering two 17.3-inch options: WQHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels, 300 nits, 240 Hz) or UHD (3,840 x 2,160 pixels, 400 nits, 144 Hz). Both displays support G-SYNC, Advanced Optimus, and a manual MUX switch, covering 99% of both the sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts. An optional 60 Hz mode is available to extend the runtime of the 99 Wh battery.
On the wireless side, the M24 model gets an upgrade to the latest Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4 standard, while the LAN solution remains the same with 2.5 GbE speeds. Besides the two Thunderbolt 5 connectors, the port selection includes 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.1 and mini DP 1.4a video outs, as well as combo audio and LAN jacks. There is also an FHD webcam, a 99 Wh battery and Varjo-ready certification for VR applications. Chassis profile and total system weight remain unchanged at 24.9 mm and 23.4 kg, respectively.
When it comes to pricing, the base configuration of the SCHENKER KEY 17 Pro (M24) packs the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, 16 GB DDR5-5600, 500 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage and the 1440p display for €3,299 (incl. 19 % VAT). The RTX 4090 upgrade is available for an additional €637 and the 4K display option costs €198.
