SCHENKER is refreshing its VIA 14 Pro premium notebook model with the latest gen AMD Hawk Point APU, also adding a brighter screen and an improved paint finish that makes the lids less prone to fingerprints.
The new VIA 14 Pro M24 model is powered by the Ryzen 7 8845HS processor from AMD, replacing the previous R7 7840HS APU from the L23 model. While the 8000-series APU does not modify anything for the eight Zen 4 cores with 16 threads that can boost up to 5.1 GHz at 54 W TDP or the Radeon 780M GPU, it does feature a gen 2 NPU that almost doubles the AI processing power over the first gen. RAM capacity is still 32 GB LPDDR5-6400 by default and there are 2x PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots equipped with thermal pads for NVMe SSD storage.
On the display side, SCHENKER is keeping the 14-inch high-quality 120 Hz LTPS IPS panel with 2880 x 1800 resolution and 100% sRGB color space, yet new for 2024 is a 33% increase in maximum brightness from 300 to 400 nits. The 180-degree hinge, AMD FreeSync support and 60 Hz alternative refresh rate mode for battery savings are still there, as well.
Besides the new paint finish that better deals with fingerprints, the chassis still weighs the same 1.39 kg (3 lbs) thanks to mostly aluminum display / bottom lids, and its profile measures 18.5 mm (0.72 inches). The port selection is unchanged, featuring 2x USB-C 3.2 gen 2 with PD and DP modes, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.0b video output, audio combo jack and a microSD card reader. Since, the system has the same weight as last year’s model, the configuration still includes the same 60 Wh battery that can last up to 11 hours.
As far as prices go, the base configuration of the VIA 14 Pro (M24) that includes AMD’s Ryzen 7 8845HS with an integrated Radeon 780M graphics unit, 32 GB LPDDR5X-6400 RAM, a 500 GB SSD and the new 400 nits 3K LTPS IPS is now available for €1,099 on Bestware.com.
