Highest performance per kg: Schenker Vision 16 Pro impresses with RTX 4070 Laptop and magnesium case

With the Vision 16 Pro at the end of last year, Schenker has continued the concept of the smaller Vision 14 and introduced an extremely slim and light 16-inch multimedia laptop to the market. It uses a case made from a magnesium alloy that in addition to its low weight also allows for a slim construction without affecting the stability negatively. At the same time, the manufacturer also doesn't forgo any connections, and in addition to modern USB-C connections, USB-A and HDMI are also available. In addition, there are two SO-DIMM slots for the working memory and two slots for M.2 2280 SSDs.

The Core i7-13700H is a 45-Watt processor. Instead of driving it with absurdly high power limits of more than 100 watts, in the Vision 16 Pro it is run at a maximum of 60 watts. The performance is decent and there is no large power drop under constant loads, but the competitors offer a higher multicore performance under short-time load. It is unfortunate that Schenker has removed the optional Turbo mode of the predecessor. On the other hand, there are no compromises with the new GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop that is run at a maximum of 95 watts. With that, it is one of the fastest versions, since the RTX 4070 Laptop generally uses a maximum of around 105 watts when gaming. The performance of the PCIe 4.0 SSD is also very good and stable.

The gaming performance is also sufficient for playing modern games in the native resolution of the matte WQHD panel. At 240 Hz, movements are very smooth, and the subjective image quality is very good. But in terms of the color space coverage and brightness, a high-end device should deliver more. Schenker also offers a pre-calibrated profile for download that will remedy the blue tint in the state of delivery, even though it isn't quite optimal and we are able to further improve the display with our own color profile. Under load, the fans get very busy, so it might be worth trying out the various power profiles while gaming. Particularly in Silent mode, the fans remain much more subdued at a maximum of around 40 dB(A), with the performance still being completely sufficient for slightly older games. On the other hand, the two fans often remain deactivated in everyday operation. Schenker was also able to improve the efficiency, making the battery life significantly more competitive now.

The 2023 Vision 16 Pro continues to be a very light 16-inch laptop with a high performance and a very good, well-rounded package overall. You can find additional information with benchmarks and measurements in our extensive review:
