ZTE has released the Nubia Z50S in China for a CNY 2,199 (~US$301) MSRP. The Nubia Z50S combines a 144 Hz AMOLED display with a 5,000 mAh battery and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, plus a Sony IMX787 primary camera.

ZTE has presented the Nubia Z50S in China, where it starts at CNY 2,199 (~US$301) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Based on its name, the Nubia Z50S slots in between the Z50 and Z50S Pro, again with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. For reference, the Nubia Z50S is significantly cheaper than the Z50, which debuted in December 2022 for CNY 2,999 (~US$410) with just 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

The Nubia Z50S arrives shortly before the introduction of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which may explain ZTE's aggressive pricing. Nonetheless, the handset also has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the 1,000-nit panel protects a 16 MP front-facing camera, which has a rather narrow f/2.45 aperture.

Moreover, ZTE installs a 64 MP primary camera built around the Sony IMX787, plus a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera that has an f/2.2 aperture. By contrast, the device's primary camera has an f/1.6 aperture, as well as a 35 mm equivalent focal length. Meanwhile, a 5,000 mAh battery underpins proceedings, which the Nubia Z50S can recharge at up to 80 W when needed. In other words, the large battery should only take about 30 minutes to reach 100% charge. Incidentally, the device comes with MyOS 13 based on Android 13 pre-installed; unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether ZTE will launch the Nubia Z50S outside China.
