Xiaomi 14 impresses in early camera samples with Leica cameras
Xiaomi has shared early camera samples taken with the Xiaomi 14, one of two flagships that it will launch later this week. As we have discussed separately, the company has already showcased the Xiaomi 14's design, which it revealed alongside what appears to be a glimpse of the Xiaomi 14 Pro. Additionally, Xiaomi outlined that the Xiaomi 14 would feature a new 1/1.31-inch primary camera, the full details of which remain unknown for now.
Nonetheless, the images embedded below confirm that the new primary camera also has a 23 mm equivalent focal length, matching the 50 MP sensor in the Xiaomi 13. An f/1.6 aperture is new though, which should help the Xiaomi 14 capture more light than its predecessor, among other advantages. Additionally, Xiaomi has highlighted the device's ability to shoot at 46 mm, likely through in-sensor zoom. For some reason, the company has not published any shots from the Xiaomi 14's presumed 14 mm ultra-wide-angle camera.
However, it has included a sample from the device's telephoto camera, which features a floating lens, an f/2.0 aperture and a 75 mm equivalent focal length. For reference, the latter two hardware details are unchanged from the 10 MP and 3.2x telephoto camera found in the Xiaomi 13. Either way, all photos appear detailed and in focus, even when capturing fast-moving objects. The Xiaomi 14 will launch on October 26 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a chipset that Qualcomm will reveal later today.
