Competition for Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series outside of China is hotting up, with the Pixel Fold and OnePlus Open both arriving within the last few months. Xiaomi may also be preparing to finally offer a foldable outside China, likely the MIX Fold 4. Hence, it would seem the right time for Samsung to distinguish next year's Galaxy Z Fold6 from its previous efforts, other than perfunctory chipset upgrades.
According to @UniverseIce, that may not be the case with Samsung's sixth-generation model, which is likely to land in summer 2024. Instead, the leaker has informed their fans that they should not 'expect much change...At least we can be sure of the camera'. In other words, @UniverseIce is suggesting that Samsung will continue to use the ISOCELL GN3, a 50 MP and 1/1.56-inch sensor used in the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Fold5.
Incidentally, the ISOCELL GN3 can also be found in the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus. Still, there are early rumblings that the Galaxy Z Fold6 could be thinner than its predecessor, possibly with an eye on Huawei's recent flagships. For reference, the Mate X5 is approximately 18% thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold5 when closed but 13% when open. Other changes between the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Fold6 are unknown for now, although we imagine that more details will surface in the next few months.
