Fisker drops Ocean Extreme US pricing as it opens order books for all trims and raises prices on cheaper trims
The long-awaited Fisker Ocean SUV is finally making its way to US shores, and at a discounted rate, to boot. Fisker recently announced that the range-topping Ocean Extreme will now be available for US$61,499, down from the original price of US$68,999. Customers with existing orders or purchases will receive a price adjustment, regardless of where the AWD SUV is in the production pipeline.
Not all is good news, though. In what appears to be an effort to make up lost profits from the Extreme's price cuts, Fisker is bumping up the price of the lower-end Sport and Ultra trims to US$38,999 and US$52,999, respectively. That represents an increase of US$1,500 for the Ocean Sport and US$3,000 for the Ocean Ultra.
While the Ocean Extreme's price cut takes effect immediately, the price increases will take effect on November 6, when Fisker officially opens the order books for the Sport and Ultra trims. Until November 5, the previous pricing will remain in effect for reservation holders.
Unlike many other popular EVs, Fisker's Ocean SUV doesn't qualify for the US federal EV tax incentives, which makes pricing a key issue for the brand, meaning Fisker will have to work harder than many of its rivals to be profitable.
