Fisker's off-road-ready Ocean Force E package looks ready to tackle the harshest terrain ↺
Fisker recently unveiled the Force E off-road package for the electric Ocean SUV, releasing renders of the resulting vehicle on Twitter, (as reported by InsideEVs). Aside from the information tipped by the tweet and the images, not much is known about the Force E off-road package other than the fact that it is set to arrive in Q4 2023.
The Force E package will upgrade the Ocean SUV's suspension with custom dampers and a lift, while the wheels get bumped up to 33-inch all-terrain tyres fitted to 22-inch reinforced wheels. The increased height should improve the approach and departure angles of the Ocean SUV for off-road work. The off-road-ready Force E version of the Ocean SUV doesn't seem to increase the power figures above 550 hp, but 550 hp is probably plenty for off-road work.
With the stock 20-inch wheels, the Ocean SUV has an approach angle of 15.9° and a departure angle of 20.3°. To make the Ocean any good for off-road work, those numbers would need to get close to 40° and 35° for the approach and departure angles respectively. The Ocean Force E will have to compete with the likes of the Hummer EV and the embattled Rivian R1S. The bigger wheels will have an impact on the range of the vehicle, but it's to be seen how much they will hurt the vehicle's viability.
Fisker is currently delivering Ocean SUVs to customers with reservations, and for anyone that doesn't want to wait for the Force E package to arrive in all its glory, the package can be retrofitted to any standard Fisker Ocean AWD, even after the fact. It's unclear how much the Force E package will cost, but it is unlikely to be cheap. The lowest trim version that can play host to the Force E upgrade is the US$49,999 (£49,880) Ocean Ultra.
