Samsung Galaxy A15 to launch with significant display upgrade from Galaxy A14 predecessors
In the past few years, OLED and AMOLED panels have been trickling down to cheaper and cheaper handsets, having previously been flagship exclusives. For example, Samsung now offers Super AMOLED displays across almost its entire Galaxy A series, excluding its cheapest representative. Instead, Galaxy A1 models still use PLS LCD panels that resolve at 90 Hz and 1080p.
For context, Samsung has flip-flopped between including AMOLED panels in the Galaxy A2 series in recent years. While the current Galaxy A24 and the Galaxy A22 have Super AMOLED panels, Samsung switched to a PLS LCD panel for the Galaxy A23. According to The Elec, 2024 will mark the year when Samsung pivots all new Galaxy A models to OLED panels, including the next Galaxy A1.
Unsurprisingly, Samsung will release a Galaxy A14 follow-up as the Galaxy A15, for which it will source a rigid OLED panel from Samsung Display. Based on the rest of The Elec's article, it seems that the Galaxy A15 will utilise a Super AMOLED panel like other Galaxy series smartphones, rather than an OLED equivalent. Incidentally, Galaxy A15 specifications have already surfaced online, as have renders courtesy of @OnLeaks.
