Galaxy Z Fold6: Leaker speculates major camera upgrade for upcoming foldable
Rumours from earlier last year suggested the Galaxy Z Fold6 would keep the Galaxy Z Fold5's camera configuration and focus on a wider, thinner screen. One report speculated Samsung could carry forward its design to the 2025-bound Galaxy S25 series. Popular X leaker Tech_Reve, who initially talked about the lack of camera upgrade, has now walked back on their prediction.
The leaker states the Galaxy Z Fold6 could tear a page out of the Galaxy S24 Ultra's ($1,299 on Amazon) playbook and come with a 200 MP primary camera sensor instead of reducing its battery capacity. Information about its accompanying camera sensors remains a mystery, but if the earlier statement is true, it could reuse other parts of the Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera assembly. However, this could be a challenging endeavour as it directly conflicts with Samsung's goal of making the Galaxy Z Fold6 thinner than its predecessor.
Looking at past Galaxy Z Fold devices, Samsung hasn't introduced major camera changes for at least three generations (Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Z Fold3 all had three 12 MP sensors). Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume the Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Fold6 follow the same pattern (50 MP primary sensor), meaning the rumoured 200 MP camera upgrade won't arrive until 2026 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7.
While @Tech_Reve is reliable and has made accurate predictions in the past, it's best to treat the information with scepticism until other sources confirm it. So far, very little is known about the Galaxy Z Fold6, and more information should emerge once its launch window approaches.
