Exciting information from the industry about Samsung's next generation of foldables. The small, stylish foldable phone will likely benefit from further battery life increases. At the same time, the ultra-thin glass of the Galaxy Z Fold6 is expected to come close to the durability of a conventional glass compound for the first time.

In the last few hours, two exciting hints have emerged about Samsung's next generation of foldables, which are expected to be launched in the summer as Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. According to Roland Quandt, the former will have the model number SM-F956 and the latter - SM-F741. The Winfuture editor and leaker has also recently discovered references to a Samsung phone called Q6A, which could potentially be the rumored "Lite model", possibly a Galaxy Z Fold6 FE.

Months ago there was speculation Samsung could radically renew the design of its foldable pocket tablet in 2024, which has only been minimally adapted in recent years; specifically, a wider form factor with a cover display in the style of the Galaxy S24 Ultra (available here on Amazon). A new entry in the South Korean Naver forum now reveals further exciting details: although these are statements from an industry representative, which of course may not necessarily be correct, certain skepticism is appropriate.

Major advances in ultra-thin glass

If the information is correct, Samsung has made great progress in the development of its ultra-thin glass (UTG) for flexible AMOLED panels. It has been reported that the UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) used in the new iteration of the Galaxy Z Fold5 will achieve the same level of durability and strength as conventional smartphone glass. Additionally, the formation of creases on the foldable screen has been reduced, all while keeping production costs low. Together with a renewed hinge, the Foldable should once again be thinner and lighter and offer better usability. Machine translated from Korean, the highlights are as follows:

1. UTG maintaining constant thickness and curvature

> The first folded product that guarantees the touch, hardness, and strength of bar-type glass products

2. The so-called wrinkles are further improved

3. UTG covering a larger area than the current size can be mass-produced at low cost.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 with a larger battery

From another corner come the first details about the Galaxy Z Flip5 successor. The chic little flip phone is supposed to have a 50-megapixel camera for the first time, but Samsung apparently also wants to massively increase the battery size. According to Galaxyclub from the Netherlands, Samsung is currently testing a Galaxy Z Flip6 prototype with two significantly larger batteries, 2,790 mAh and 1,097 mAh, i.e. 3,887 mAh in total, and the data sheet could contain 4,000 mAh. Compared to the current level of 3,700 mAh (or 3,591 mAh net), this would be a substantial improvement. However, caution is advised here too. It remains to be seen whether all the advances of the currently tested prototypes will also be adopted in the final model.
