First HMD Global smartphone surfaces with 108 MP OIS camera in official leak
Earlier this month, 91mobiles revealed a first look at HMD Global's first smartphone without Nokia branding, codenamed N159V. In summary, HMD Global has been releasing Nokia smartphones under a licensing agreement since 2016, most recently with the Nokia G42 (curr. $350 on Amazon). However, HMD Global confirmed in September 2023 that while it intended to continue offering Nokia smartphones, these would soon be sold alongside those bearing its name.
Now, SuomiMobiili has noticed an image of an unreleased smartphone on Nokia's website sporting 'HMD' branding. Although only part of its back panel is shown, that which can be seen matches 91mobiles' earlier leak. Thus, the unnamed device features two rear-facing cameras, much like last year's Nokia C32. Additionally, the same image contains the inscription '108 MP OIS', likely denoting a 108 MP and optically stabilised primary camera.
Unfortunately, other details remain unknown for now, including a release date. Evan Blass claims that at least six HMD-branded smartphones could be in development, though with Pulse, Pulse Plus, Pulse Pro, Legend, Legend Plus and Legend Pro codenames mentioned. Currently, all are thought to be entry-level or mid-range options rather than a return to the flagship days of the Nokia 9 PureView.
